Highlights: The Crimson Tide finished second at the highly competitive 17-team Merrimack Invitational. Exeter won with 66 points, but Concord was right behind with 65. Nashua South 58 and Nashua North (56) rounded out the top four teams. Concord’s 4x100 relay of Chelsea Toenah, Ella Goulas, Ballay Conteh and Grace Saysaw set the school record with a time of 49.89 seconds.

Highlights: The Pride split a five-team meet on its home track for senior day. Coe-Brown won seven of the 17 events to claim the overall victory.

Highlights: The Tide finished fourth and the Bears tied for fifth at the 16-team Merrimack Invitational. Nashua South and Pinkerton tied for the lead with 96 points. Nashua North (59), Concord (52), Coe-Brown (38) and Portsmouth (38) were the top six teams.

Highlights: The Pride won five of seven field events and swept the hurdles to win its senior day meet on its home track. Oglesby, Reynolds and Karki all won multiple events to lead MV.

Baseball

Bow 5, Milford 1

Key players: Bow – Sean Guerrette (7 IP, 1 R, 11 K, 2 BB), Jake Reardon (3-for-3, triple, double, walk, 3 RBI), Sean Guerette (1-for-3, 2 RBI), Owen Webber (hit), Owen Cray (hit), Caleb Szafran (hit)

Highlights: The Falcons led 3-0 through three innings before Milford broke onto the scoreboard in the fourth. Bow plated two more runs in the sixth to secure the victory.

Plymouth 3, Pembroke 0

Key players: Pembroke – Devin Riel (6 IP), Owen Stewart (threw out two players at second base)

Highlights: The Bobcats scored runs in the second, third and sixth innings to put away the Spartans. Plymouth outhit Pembroke, 8-4, while the Spartans committed four errors 

Records: Plymouth 9-1; Pembroke 4-7

Belmont 7, Gilford 2

Key players: Belmont – Anakin Underhill (win, 6.1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 10 K; RBI), Michael Collette (1-for-2), Jaxson Embree (1-for-3, RBI, run), Owen Waldron (1-for-3, walk, RBI, run)

Highlights: Underhill paced the Red Raiders, not allowing any earned runs on the mound. After giving up a run in the first inning, Belmont responded with three of its own, plus two more in the fourth and a pair in the sixth thanks to timely hitting by Collette, Embree and Waldron.

Conant 12, Hopkinton 2

Key players: Hopkinton – Cody Charron (2-for-3, RBI, stolen base), Tyler Czarkowski (1-for-3, run), Bronson Ammann (1-for-3, double, run), Jackson Kovar (first varsity hit)

Highlights: Hopkinton trailed 8-0 in the bottom of the sixth when Czarkowski’s two-run single brought two Hawk runnrers home, but the Orioles responded with four runs in the top of the seventh.

Coach’s quote: “Conant is a very good team and tough opponent, but I am pleased with our approach at the plate as we had seven hits and also put another 10 balls in play that they had to get us out on.  I also feel we did pretty well with the leather defensively, making some solid plays behind our pitchers.  Unfortunately, we just issued too many free passes and the Orioles were able to capitalize with those base runners.” – Hopkinton’s Kevin Hill

Highlights: The Rams scored four runs in the top of the first inning and three more in the top of the third. Amman’s RBI single to left made it 7-1.

Coach’s quote: “We came out flat today and Raymond took advantage of that. Then once they had a lead they were able to add to it. We were able to clean up our defense and make some good plays to help keep the Rams off the bases. Unfortunately, our efforts were just a little too late. Offensively, we could not get the timely hits needed with runners in scoring position. Highlights: Defensive unit of Broc Pelchat, Noah Wyatt, Tiegan Mason, Sebastian Nichols, Ian Hughes and Bobby Bourgault held Salem to few quality shots.

Laconia 11, Hopkinton 7

Key players: Hopkinton – Patty Buss (goal, 4 assists), Shane Smith (4 goals, 9 ground balls), Merrick Chapin (3 assists), Ozzie Rosenholm (17-for-22 faceoffs, 11 ground balls, 3 caused turnovers), Kip Hedquist (3 assists), Owen Buss (goal, 4-for-5 faceoffs), Brayden Crawford (6 ground balls, 2 caused turnovers), Avery Condon (5 ground balls, 3 caused turnovers)

Highlights: The game stayed close early, with a 1-1 tie after the first and a 5-4 Laconia lead at halftime. The Sachems pulled ahead 8-5 by the end of the third and continued their scoring run to make it 11-5 with only 3:19 left in regulation. The Hawks made a strong push at the end, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap.

Highlights: Concord jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, but Salem scored four unanswered goals to end the first quarter to take a 4-3 lead. At the end of the third quarter, the Crimson Tide trailed by two, but the Blue Devils outscored Concord in the fourth quarter to maintain and extend the lead.

Highlights: Westover’s work in the draw circle, Hopkinton’s offense, led by Chodosh, Westover and Owens, and the Hawk defense, led by Yeaton and Afflerbach, gave the Hawks a 9-2 lead after the first quarter. Hopkinton spent the rest of the game fine-tuning its offense against Laconia’s recently implemented backer zone.
