The Center for the Arts is excited to add to its gallery partners and CFA microgalleries with its increased lineup of local artists on display through a recent partnership with the New London Hospital. The CFA will oversee the hospital art exhibit spaces to host a diverse collection of artwork displayed throughout the facility for enjoyment and purchase.

Art can inspire, lift the spirit, and bring wonder to viewers of all ages, so this partnership is a perfect match for both entities. New artwork will be displayed throughout the year, showcasing local artists’ work and aiming to create an environment that fosters healing, inspiration, and appreciation for the arts.

This partnership is an extension of the Center for the Arts’ successful Gallery Strolls that offer opening receptions on four first Fridays of the year, typically February, May, September, and November. Viewers can visit the six locations (New London Inn, Bar Harbor Bank and Trust, Blue Loon Bakery, Candita Clayton Gallery, the New London Barn Playhouse Fleming Center, and the Tatewell Gallery) to view local artists’ work while sipping wine or enjoying hors d’oeuvres. Artists are at each site to answer any questions or share about their work.

Though NLH cannot be part of the Gallery Strolls on First Fridays at this time, local artists will be on display like all other microgalleries and gallery partners throughout the year. Anytime during business hours, each location is open to view or purchase artwork.

This partnership was a ‘no-brainer’,” said Executive Director Dena Stahlheber. “NLH is an excellent community establishment that has generously offered its wall space in a way that benefits the community and local artists in a harmonious collaboration. We are thrilled to be a part of this effort.”

The Center for the Arts supports over 100 area arts and related businesses and provides opportunities for artists to create, perform, or write.
